Housing Renovation Funding

In 2004, the Central Catskill Rehab project of the M-ARK Project Inc. received $500,000 to provide homeowners in the towns of Middletown, Roxbury and Andes with low-interest loans to rehabilitate their homes. Those looking to rent a house or apartment in the Town of Andes who pay more than thirty percent of their gross income on rent may be eligible for financial assistance. The Village of Delhi has a rental assistance program which has, as of September 2003, been expanded to cover the Town and Village of Andes. Assistance will be provided on any rental unit, including mobile homes, apartments or homes.

The renter pays 30% of their gross annual income per month, so for example $1000 of gross income in the month - the renter would pay $300. The balance of the rent and utility costs would be paid through the rental assistance program. Units must pass a housing quality inspection, which assures that the unit is adequately maintained.
